Sorry that I am so late to the party! I had a post scheduled to go up, but I guess WordPress decided that I didn’t need it!

A lot of you may know, but I was lucky enough to have spent the weekend in Boston at the Healthy Living Summit! This was my second year going, and I had just as much fun meeting new friends and old and learning some fun things along the way!

I arrived in Boston early Friday morning–the whole travel day was incredibly easy! I arrived at the Hyatt Regency in Cambridge, which had a really cool look to it both inside and out. I  figured it was so early in the morning, but they would let me leave my bag somewhere until check in. The front desk was so helpful and a room was ready at 9 am!

By that point, I was starving–and lucky for me, Meghann was getting some breakfast in the hotel at the same time. We ordered our food to go and hung out in her suite before the craziness began! I went with the caramelized onion and mushroom omelet which also came with potatoes and cranberry pecan bread:

It was really good, and it kept me full for hours. After breakfast Meghann had to go get things ready–she is the rockstar who was in charge of planning the event! I went back up to my room to relax a little but and freshen up before getting started with the day.

Around lunch time a group of us walked about a mile to Whole Foods to grab some lunch and mingle. Let me tell you that this WF didn’t mess around–there was an escalator heading into the store!

I got a pretty small salad and some hummus to enjoy because I was still not hungry from breakfast!

But I did have some great company:

Me, Min, Lisa, and Katie!

After lunch, Emma from whole foods talked to us about natural beauty products and the importance of putting healthy, whole ingredients on our face every day. Makes total sense, right!? They also gave us some free samples to try out at home, can’t wait to use some!

We headed back to the hotel and got checked in, and got our SWAG! Our sponsors were so awesome and gave us lots of things to try out, including some new kicks form REEBOK!

Check out all that loot!! And it was like they knew that my favorite color was purple! Thank you so much to our sponsors, again!

Later that evening we had a cocktail party, which only would be having light food–so a few of us grabbed some dinner at the restaurant in the hotel, I rolled with the New England Clam Chowder and a side salad!

It hit the spot! We all got ready and had a glass of wine before heading down to the party. It was a great time and we all got to mingle and shake our booties!

Sara, Katie, me, and Alaina

They had some great desserts including some mini whoopee pies and a popcorn/chocolate bar…genius!

Sadly, I didn’t take too many pictures because it was pretty dark and I was busy mingling, but you get the idea!

I will be back later with more on the Summit–day 2!

Hi guys! I was getting so tired last night while writing that post–so I had to give in to the sleepiness! But here is the last of the HLS posts! 😦

Saturday night was SO much fun. Katie, Danielle and I didn’t realize that we should have made a reservation for dinner, so we ended up wandering around for like an hour and a half just trying to find somewhere with less than a two hour wait! One host even laughed a little when I said that I didn’t have a reservation :/ Who does that?!

It all worked out because we ended up going to The Corner (I know, sounds sketchy!) and eating up on the balcony. It wasn’t great service, but I did like the atmosphere.

We all started off with wine. 🙂

{Artsy Fartsy: fail 🙂 }

I ended up choosing the “Seafood Hotdog” because it just sounded interesting. I figured it was either going to be amazing or disgusting, lol. Lucky for me, it was very tasty!

It was served with homemade chips and coleslaw–which were also good! 🙂

And no blogger outing would be complete without FroYo! Seriously.

Cookies & cream/PNB ice cream with crushed Oreos and sprinkles?? Yes, please! It was just as good as it looks! 🙂

Afterwards, we headed back to the hotel, just in time for Caitlin to call me and say that they were going to a gay bar, and that I should go. When in Rome?

It was SO much fun. We danced and sang to Brit, Ke$ha, and Gaga all night! 🙂 After walking around for a long time to find pizza–I promptly face planted in bed. I was pretty excited that the 5K the next morning turned into more of a walk than a run, lol.

{Blogger Lurve <3…pictures stolen from Meghann–who is a ROCKSTAR for planning the whole summit by herself!}

After a walk around Philly and running up the Rocky steps, I couldn’t wait for breakfast! It was an oatmeal bar sponsored by Quaker Oats! So tasty–but I didn’t stop to take pictures. Just having a “Breakfast is my happy hour” moment. 🙂 After say my good bye to everyone, I headed up to pack up all my goodies and head home.

After a long car ride last–I was exhausted. I defintely suffered from a HLS hangover the next day. Can’t wait to go back next year! 🙂

xoxo.

Day two of HLS proved to be even more awesome than the first–I am just going to touch on some of my favorite points!

We started the morning off right with a breakfast bar hosted by Attune!

There was all kinds of cereal, granola, yogurts and fruit to choose from!

I rolled with some honey and almond granola, blueberry yogurt and some fruit. And a little of this…

…Mmmm hmmm. A non-fat vanilla latte was needed! PS–you know you are at a blogging conference when you look around and everyone is taking pictures of their food before eating it! 🙂

After getting our eat on and doing some icebreakers, we got started with the sessions! The morning started out with “Budgeting for a healthy lifestyle” with Lauren:

She had some really great pointers–and I made sure to take lots of notes! 🙂

I must say that this was one of my favorite sessions, I learned some interesting stuff!

The next session was run by Dawn, who is just a ball of sunshine! I am so glad that I got to meet her, and that we all had the pleasure of listening to her twice!

The first of the talks was about using “Action Mantras”.  It is about using small phrases in your every day life to help keep you one track and get results! Here are some of the examples that she gave:

  • “Table-plate-chair”
  • “Nourish what counts”
  • “Habit first, effort later”
  • “Social sweets only”
  • “Simple flavors satisfy”
  • “Everyday veggie tray”
  • “Avoid what you like, eat what you love.”
The point is to make mantras that people can remember, and that can inspire in some way. Mantra should be easy to memorize, use colorful language, and be positive and fun!
Next up, we took a lunch break–and thank goodness, my stomach was letting me know I was hungry!
Lunch had all vegetarian options–and the bread was especially tasty:

And look who sat next to me:

Tina! 🙂 She really is as nice in person as on her blog! {nerd alert, I know.}

I also got a cute picture with the roomies!

And as an extra surprise…look what I found!

I wonder how that got there? 🙂

Next up we got back to some sessions.

We got to listen to Dawn’s second presentation, “Realistic and Achievable Wellness”.   It was interesting to see so many people in the room realize that they in fact were “flexitarians”. The main concept here is that being a flexitarian you are “pro-plant, not anti-meat”! Who knew?!

She also gave some great tips on veggie swaps in exchange for meats:

It was a really great talk, and I think I will be buying the book.

The last session of the day was led by the wonderful Katy Widrick. She had so much good information about making money off of your blog, but I think I need to do a lot more research! I found some of it to be really confusing, haha.

The sessions were ending, but there was still more fun to be had! I got to meet this lovely lady:

It at was going by so fast! But there was more fun to be had! I will be back tomorrow morning with a recap of Saturday night and the conclusion of HLS! 🙂

For now…goodnight!

xoxo
